The Invisible Gorilla

 As the WSJ points out today, that people can be completely oblivious to things in their field of vision....that they fail to notice things that should not be there...."we largely see what we expect to see." The more attention a task demands, the less attention we can pay to other things..in other words the inability to multitask....they say the brain is wired to focus on just one thing...and that only 2.5% of the population can multitask efficiently. This would go a long ways to explaining the conundrum in today's economy, markets and political environment. Clearly there are not too many folks multitasking.

The federal government says it spent $369,000,000,000 in the month of March alone......or $1,190 per each American...more important the government took in only $550 in taxes....it borrowed the rest.....We are finding those investing in bonds will have a rude wake up call one day soon...it is like the late 1990's.....the more money a stock lost in its business plan the more investors wanted to own that paper.

Young people and driving?
The average annual number of vehicle miles traveled by 16-34 year olds decreased by 23% between 2001 and 2009. Young Americans are also using technology to substitute for driving, connecting with friends online.

Saudi Arabia is burning 1.5 million barrels of oil per day to satisfy its domestic water demands though desalination...and climbing....

A very successful lawyer said, "You need to know what you would like to achieve and what you would accept as your last alternative-that is, what would you prefer to have as opposed to not getting any deal. The result of the negotiation will almost always be somewhere in between those two points. You don't want to posture..you want to maintain your credibility."

We would like to know what happened to all the adults in the room..the entire country is living beyound its means and nobody seems to care or notice....especially the media...and politicians.....and oh....yes.. what percent of the population is being attacked these days??
