Singularity

This word means a unique event with singular implications. It was adapted by mathematician's to denote a value that transcends any finite limitation. This offers a singular vision of how technology is changing the world on the order of magnitude never seen before in the history of Man. Human progress is exponential (it expands through multiplying by a constant), rather than linear (expanding by a constant). Exponential growth starts slowly and almost unnoticed then turns explosive and profoundly transformative.

It is entirely probably that this is exactly what is going on in the world today as the internet gets developed and utilized by the entire population...and we are still in the early phases of our development.

The pace of change increases over time!
