Corn
We thought there might be a shortage in corn this year domestically and internationally as major producers went from being exporters to importers...like China....especially as demand has exceeded supply for sometime now and we have been using up existing inventories...
Corn is up 28 percent this year. We are experiencing a drought now in the upper Midwest down to Texas. Temperatures are forecast to the high 90's for the next week and no rain...This is a critical time for the soy and corn crops as they enter their pollination period. If no rain and high temps persist for the next 10 days the crop can be lost!
Ethanol demand will boost US corn use 34% to 2.15 bushels in the year that begins Sept. 1, up from a record 1.6 billion this year and a 62% percent jump from 2005.
An estimated 32 new ethanol plants and six expansions will boost US capacity by 41% over the next two years.
The value of corn in the US is $21 billion and Soy $17 billion. Yet another "asset" going up in value/ price.....
Barkly seen here is watching and waiting for the rain and trying to stay cool at the office.
