Buffets Tips and Avian Flu
Mr. Buffets 5 tips for investing: 1) Look at stocks as parts of businesses. How would I feel if the markets closed for the next three years..would I be happy owning these parts of businesses? 2) The market is there to serve you and not to instruct you. It is not telling you whether you are right or wrong..the businesses you invest in will determine that. 3) You can't precisely know what a stock is worth, so leave yourself a margin of safety. If you are wrong you want to come out ok. 4) Borrowed money is the most common way that smart guys go broke. 5) A stock does not know you own it. People should not get emotionally involved with their stocks.
It will be impossible to know for sure if and when the "bird" flu H5N1 will break out in Asia. When the world finally figures it out it will be too late to take action...markets will close and investors will be tested....be sure to know what you own and leave a margin of safety with those positions. It appears China (and other countries) may be covering up and one needs to pay very close attention to this probable event...stay tuned..watch www.avianflu.typepad.com
